MPGA 16 Man Team  Match Play Competition

Overview

·         As a member of the MPGA (Minnesota Public Golf Association), we are able to compete in team competition

·         Clubs are slotted into one of several classifications based on depth and ability of players:

·         There is no extra fee involved – the only item the player pays are the greens fees for the particular course.

·         People eligible to participate on the team will have the following qualifications

§         Must have a GHIN handicap at Wild Marsh GC

§         Must be 18 years of age or have graduated High School

Format

·         Each team consists of 16 members

·         16 players are then split into 8, 2-man teams

·         All matches are four-ball: 2-man teams best ball against the best ball of the opposing 2-man team18 holes

·         Match play rules with no handicap

·         3 points available for each match, awarded as follows: (half points for ties)

§         1 point for winning front nine

§         1 point for winning back nine

§         1 point for winning 18 hole round

Line-Up Determination

·         Players that competed in the previous 16 Man event will have playing priority in the next event. If any players fail to signup within the specified deadline the open spots will become available to the rest of the team, those slots will be filled by the lowest handicap players.

·         Team captain and co-captain will be responsible for setting the pairings for all 16 team members

§         MPGA guidelines suggest pairing teams who have a similar team total handicap in order for each match to be as competitive as possible
